State Eligibility Test (SET) is a competitive examination conducted by State Level Eligibility Test Commission (SLET) , Assam (NE Region) to deternmine and select eligible candidates to be appointed as an Asst. Professor in the same league as National Eligibility Test (NET) organised by University Grants Commission (UGC).
SET is conducted in all the States of the North East including Assam, Arunachal Pradesh,
Mizoram, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.

Validity of Test : Candidates who qualify in the Test are eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor within the jurisdiction of the Member-States of this SLET Commission. They will be issued a Pass certificate and the validity period of the certificate is forever.
Eligibility Criteria of State Eligibility Test 2024
Nationality : Citizen of India
Residen-ship : Resident of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura
Educational Qualification:
General / Unreserved / General-EWS candidates who have secured atleast 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC are eligible for this test. However, the scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Person with Disability (PWD) Category, the Other Backward Classes (OBC) belonging to non-creamy layer who have secured atleast 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master degree or equivalent examination are eligible to appear in the Test.
General /EWS - 55% Marks in master degree
SC/ST/OBC/PWD - 50% Marks in master degree
The Ph.D. degree holders (Passed Masters by 19th September 1991) - 50% marks in master
Final Year Candidates : Yes, Eligible and they can apply. However they have to produce pass certificate in due course of time.
Knowledge of Computer / Computer Skill –Nil.
Experience: Not Applicable.
Local Language: Not Applicable.
Age Limit: There is no upper age limit for eligibility for applying for this Test.
